Day 149. Surprise!

In January 2013 on January 8, 2013 at 3:11 pm

You may have read my blog post of last week describing a dead brown snake found by the side of the road.

Today we found a live specimen.

About 1.5 metres long. In our holiday house shed. Near the kids’ beach toys.

Our helpful neighbour informed us it was a King Brown (Pseudechis australis), but I’m not so sure. I think it’s a Peninsula Brown (Pseudonaja inframacula). I’d be grateful if anyone is able to help with the correct identification.

We had to kill it unfortunately. With a nine, seven and three-year old wandering around, it’s just not worth the risk.

This post dedicated to John Wilkins.
